FibreFORM™ – Complex forms made simple

FibreFORM™ is a highly conformable system capable of picking composite plies from a flat surface and forming it onto a double curvature surface. Suitable for prepreg and dry fibre materials, FibreFORM™ is perfect for manufacturing a wide range of component types including: aerospace parts such as fuselage sections, wing skins, control surfaces, engine nacelles; blades for wind, tidal and engine applications; automotive panels; rail rolling stock; and radomes.

It is a scalable system allowing it to be optimised for a given deposition activity, and can be deployed on a robot or gantry system

HIGH DEPOSITION RATE

10x the deposition rate when compared to traditional handling methods – up to 200kg/hour

PRECISE AND REPEATABLE

Positional repeatability of ±0.5mm (subject to material type and geometry).

UNCONSTRAINED BY PLANE

The system can operate in fully horizontal and vertical planes, or a combination of both. It will even operate inverted if the deployment system permits.

MODULAR AND SCALABLE

Multiple modules can be arranged in parallel, enabling the construction of impressive systems capable of laying up wing skins up to 20m long.

How does it work?

FibreFORM™ is able to carefully pick-up composite plies using individually controlled suction cups (the model shown has 270!).

Then, with its specially designed hand and wrist mechanisms, it manipulates the splines in such a way as to match the 3D surface of a tool – all with millimetric accuracy and precision.

Watch to see FibreFORM™ in motion, and get a closer look at how it works.

Loop Technology makes local news

In our last newsletter, we showed you how excited the children from Cheselbourne Village School were to meet our robots.

We’re so pleased that our local paper the Dorset Echo wanted to share this story too!

Conquering the Jurassic Coast Challenge

A big shout out to our Operations Director, Josh Wright, and Service and Support Manager, Ed Page, pictured here with a well-deserved beverage.

They walked 100km over 24 hours along the Jurassic Coast and raised over £700 for Young Lives vs Cancer!

The Jurassic Coast is one of many reasons we love living and working in Dorset
