Living in Dorset

Loop is located in Poundbury, a new urban development on the edge of Dorchester. Work-life balance is made easy in West Dorset with plenty of rolling hills and the world-renowned Jurassic Coast to explore. See what the team get up to outside of work in our local area:

Meet Luisa,

one of our software engineers.

She joined the Loop team in July 2018.

Challenging work with cutting edge technology

I have always been interested in working in software and cutting-edge technology, and that’s what I get to do every day. I like that we get to see and understand every stage of a project from specification to software design to delivery. You’re also given the opportunity to visit the client for the final installation and see your robot and hard work in action.

New ideas are valued and encouraged

The work at Loop is varied and challenging in a friendly and relaxed environment. We have a really supportive team and management provide everything you need to achieve your best. New ideas are valued and encouraged, no matter your position or how long you’ve worked here.

Meet Matt,

one of our project engineers.

He joined as a graduate software engineer in 2005 and progressed through senior engineer level and into project management.

An evolving company, keeping the same values

In the 13 plus years I have worked for Loop, I have seen the company move from strength to strength. It has evolved from a one person company at the directors house to over 50 employees in our fourth premises. Upon every move we feel as if we might never fill the space, yet within months we do. Our projects have grown in size and complexity too, and our knowledge and skills base has expanded respectively.

There has been a lot of change but some things remain constant. We have kept the same values; putting the customer first, never compromising on quality, and using innovative technology. We have the same working ethos; we are a close and skilled team with a friendly yet productive working environment, it is still a great place to work.

Loop support employee growth

I joined as a graduate software engineer and have progressed through Senior Engineer level and into Project Management. I have seen people grow within the company, from work experience to full time, qualified staff. I have seen Loop support employees through higher education and have been on multiple courses myself.

The variety of work here is astounding

The variety of work here is astounding, across multiple fields of manufacturing and technology, you will not find such a diverse range of work in many other places, certainly not in the heart of Dorset.

I am always impressed with the world class level of engineering we produce and the innovative way we solve the problems faced by our customers. I look forward to playing a part in Loops continued success and growth.

Meet Tim,

one our principal mechanical engineers.

He joined the Loop team in 2010.

Diverse and challenging range of projects

I got very involved with robotics at university and subsequently pursued a career in bespoke design of robotics related systems. I’ve been working at Loop since 2010 and in that time,  I’ve worked on an extremely diverse and challenging range of projects, ranging from the design of machines to manufacture tiny electronic components to those for manufacturing the next generation of aircraft wings.

Every project is different, designs are innovative and boundaries are continually being pushed. I get to contribute to every stage of the design and build process so it’s very satisfying to see an idea turned into a fully working machine.

Friendly, open, and inclusive

Since coming to work at Loop the company has more than quadrupled in size but has still managed to remain friendly, open and inclusive. I’ve worked with customers from big and small companies in a range of industries on systems of ever-increasing size and complexity.

Great for work life balance

With its location on the Dorset coast, working at Loop provides the opportunity for a great work life balance. Through the summer months I go Scuba diving after work. There’s also great cycling, kite surfing, walks, kayaking, paragliding, rock climbing and country pubs.
