The NCC needed to source an automated preforming system in order to assess new approaches to the manufacture of composite preforms. The key attribute the cell needed to possess was flexibility in order to reconfigure the cell to perform different tasks.

We provided a turnkey solution encompassing design, manufacture, installation and commissioning.

The cell integrated:

  • Kuka KR510 Robot
  • Güdel TMF4 Track with 16m of travel
  • Automated tool changer and tool stands
  • Vacuum table and pumps
  • Raised access floor
  • Safety system and interlocked guarding
  • Camera system
  • Moveable guarding straddling the robot track to enable three separate cells
  • Cell control system integrating safety, monitoring, control, software, and data acquisition
